Food recalls & allergy alerts
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) routinely issues food recalls and allergy alerts to the public.
Our role is primarily to support CFIA recalls, upon request. This is typically for larger recalls that may be too taxing on CFIA resources. We, along with the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control, have delegated authority under the Food Safety Act and may independently issue a Public Notice or Recall for provincially licenced facilities (e.g. dairy plants, meat processor).
