Educational opportunities are available for RNs looking to expand their careers into a nursing specialty. A training position (a.k.a. education opportunity) is a full-time or part-time position created specifically for undergoing training. These are typically compressed time frame studies. The training position will have a line on a rotation and will require a Return of Service.
Interior Health has specialty education programs for a Critical Care Nurse. This in-house program uses the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (ACCN) Essentials of Critical Care Orientation (ECCO) program coordinated by the Interior Health Critical Care and Emergency Networks. Successful completion of this education would require an 18-month return of service commitment.
If you are an experienced registered nurse and would like to move into the emergency but do not have formal education, we would love to consider you for paid in-house emergency training. Successful completion of this education would require an 18-month return of service commitment.

Regional Emergency Department Education Program (REDEP) Syllabus
Interior Health has specialty education programs for the Perianesthesia Education Program (PEP). The PEP uses a standardized, evidence informed on-line curriculum offered by Elsevier, called ASPAN: Mosby’s Orientation to Perianesthesia Nursing (MOPAN) curriculum. Additional evidence informed on-line modules are completed through Essentials of Critical Care Orientation (ECCO). Successful completion of this education would require an 18-month return of service commitment.
This Registered Nurse employee education opportunity is for the Accelerated Perinatal (AWHONN) Nursing Speciality Program. This in-house program uses the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) curriculum and is coordinated by the Interior Health Maternal, Newborn, Child and Youth Network. Successful completion of this education would require an 18-month return of service commitment.
Interior Health has specialty education programs for Operating Room Nurses. The training is an in-house Regional Perioperative Education Program (RPEP) and is administered in a blended format. The program is a systematic integration of online and face-to-face learning aimed to facilitate critical thinking skills while applying an understanding of perioperative care. Successful completion of this education would require an 18-month return of service commitment.
The Interior Health Hemodialysis specialty education program is offered to Interior Health employees and coordinated by the Interior Health Renal Services Network, is an eight-week post basic program that involves classroom, laboratory and clinical practice. Upon successful completion of the classroom, laboratory and clinical portions of this course, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and Registered Nurse (RN) will have the competencies needed to care for clients in a hemodialysis setting in a competent and caring manner.
Nurses interested in funded training, may express their interest by filling out a pre-screen questionnaire. The questionnaire assesses eligibility for funding, willingness to commit to training requirements, and entry level nursing skills and competencies.
