Overview of Employed Student Nurses(ESNs)/Employed Student Psychiatric Nurses (ESPNs)
Interior Health supports Bachelor of Science in Nursing Students (registered nurses/registered psychiatric nurses) with an employment opportunity within its ESNs/ESPNs Program. The ESN/ESPN Program provides nursing students with a unique assignment that fosters professional development and the consolidation of skills and abilities. It's designed to employ nursing students who have successfully completed their second or third year in a recognized nursing education program.
ESNs/ESPNs positions are available in various health sectors (Acute, Long-term Care, Rural, etc.) across Interior Health. ESN/ESPNs provide direct nursing care in accordance to Interior Health's policies and procedures, and British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) requirements.

To apply for an ESN/ESPN position please ensure you have completed the following:
- Download, save and complete the ESN/ESPN Pre-screen Form
- Download, save and complete the ESN Entry to Practice Clinical Skills List (Acute Care) (*only for ESN applicants)
- Create a profile or login to your profile at jobs.interiorhealth.ca
- Attach the following documents to your IH Careers “Profile”:
- Cover letter
- Resume
- CPR certificate
- ESN/ESPN Pre-screen Form
- ESN Entry to Practice Clinical Skills List (Acute Care) *Only for ESN applicants
- While logged into your IH Careers “Profile”, Search Jobs
- Type “Employed Student Nurse” in the search box and click search
- Choose the postings for your desired region (East Kootenay, Kootenay Boundary, Okanagan, or Thompson/Cariboo) and click “Apply”.
