Marilyn Ransome is inspired by teamwork. As a community integration care coordinator (CICC)/team leader in Kamloops, the Victoria, B.C. native is responsible for the coordination of day-to-day operations and quality client care, and supports the seamless movement of clients through the health-care system and in accessing appropriate resources.

“The home health team I work with is inspiring.” When the chips are down and our backs are against the wall, this team rallies together to help each other with tenacity, perseverance and humour.”

Marilyn supervises and serves as a role model and resource to staff for clinical decision making, the clinical assessments of clients, and in the counselling and education of families. She takes her leadership role seriously.

Marilyn’s teamwork mentality was strengthened by her experience as a medic in the Army Reserves for three years (11 Medical Company - Victoria BC).

“I learned how to stand up for myself, the importance of working as a team, and the necessity of always having Plan B,” she said.

Besides being an advocate for her team, Marilyn describes herself as determined, hardworking and easy to laugh. Outside of work, she enjoys being outside hiking or gardening.

“I have been fortunate to have enjoyed many great hikes… the best being in my own backyard of the North Thompson (Sun Peaks, Barriere Forks Park, Paul Lake, Batchelor Heights hiking trails),” Marilyn said.

In a few years, she looks forward to stepping down and enjoying more time relaxing, being outdoors and spending time with her family.
