Trevor Speed, corporate director, Facilities Management & Operations, grew up in a “health-care household”: both his parents worked in the field. Trevor is passionate about keeping a focus on the patients and clients that Interior Health (IH) serves. He’s been very lucky in his career path and has had the opportunity to be a team member of several different departments within IH.

Trevor started his health-care career at Island Health in 2004 as a front-line protection services officer—similar to IH’s relational security officer (RSO) role. While he went to school with the intention of working in the banking and financial sector, Trevor was hooked by health care and has been able to take advantage of the many opportunities presented during his career.
Trevor’s had several exciting and novel experiences at IH, including transitioning major contracts between providers, being a key member of several large-scale public-private partnerships (P3) construction projects, and leading the transition to the new RSO program.

Trevor emphasizes the continued growth and opportunity within IH. “You never know what opportunities may present themselves, and new and exciting challenges that will allow you to grow and expand your skillset as a leader,” he says. As part of his personal growth, he’s also working on completing his Master of Business Administration (MBA).
Born and raised in Victoria, Trevor moved to Kelowna in 2009 with very little knowledge of the community and fell in love with everything it has to offer. Trevor is married to Tristin, and they have a seven-year-old daughter, Kiera.
When he isn’t at work, Trevor’s hobbies include golfing, camping, snowboarding and being with family and friends. He’s also excited about travelling after a hiatus due to the pandemic restrictions.
