Ellen had never really spoken with anyone about her alcohol use. She credits the day treatment program for providing the safe place she needed to begin sharing, where she realized that she wasn’t alone.

“I shared things in that group that I had never shared with anyone,” she explains.
“It’s a small group of people which is nice. There’s different topics discussed, like mindfulness, setting boundaries, and how to live a healthy life. You get to know people and you’re comfortable around them. Everyone is in the same situation. There’s no judgement.”
“For a long time I thought there was something wrong with me. I kept asking myself why I couldn’t stop drinking.”
“It changed my life completely. I’m in control now.”
The substance use day treatment program offers a six-week community-based education and discussion group for people who are looking for a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
